“Ghosts”
released digitally on November 10, 2023
It all begins somewhere. Traces of what eventually became “Ghosts” can be found as acoustic demos lingering between band members, evolving into something darker and more progressive.
“This time for real”
“The beginnings of ‘Ghosts’ were conceived during an emotional low-point in my life. I was listening to a lot of The Cranberries and My Bloody Valentine and desperately wanted to write something big with deep, open chords. I remember coming to Mason with a riff and a chord progression and we just jammed on it for a few months until eventually something clicked. We came up with the bass intro and it just immediately fell into place. I think it was a really big moment for us as songwriters because it just felt so effortless, every decision was made by the music rather than us debating anything. I’m really proud of this track, I think it shows what we’re capable of as a band.”

“Ghosts”
I wanna scream it all out
From the edge of the driveway
Sing those words you can’t remember
Dreaming of things I’ll never say
To the edge of a world I don’t know
Making love with ghosts and no-shows
Lose myself behind the curtains
You pull the strings and I’ll be certain
Oh, don’t let me go
Don’t let it show
You’re on your own
This time for real
And just in case you miss me
Take a page out of our memories
‘Cause I’m rewriting history
This time for real
You’re reaching out to touch me
From behind that darkened veil
A cruel lesson that you taught me
It’s a pain I know too well
Finding something to believe in
It’s like a nightmare out of season
Locked tight inside your coffin
I promise all will be forgotten
Oh, don’t let me go
Don’t let it show
You’re on your own
This time for real
And just in case you miss me
Take a page out of our memories
‘Cause I’m rewriting history
This time for real
(You haunt me like a ghost)
(You haunt me like a ghost)
(You haunt me like a ghost)
(You haunt me, you haunt me)
